Get away from it all

Cornwall offers the perfect mix of moody scenery and tranquil sea views. These wild, open spaces can be just the thing if you need to blow away the cobwebs and recharge by getting back to nature.

In fact, there are a total of seven beaches within a five-mile radius of Bude: Duckpool, Sandymouth, Summerleaze, Northcott Mouth, Crooklets, Widemouth, and Black Rock.

If you’re looking to get away from it all, visiting Blackberry, Bramblewood or Briar Patch cottages will give you the greatest choice in how you spend your holiday

The Perfect Location

We are located just minutes from the beautiful village of Poughill, which boasts attractive thatched cottages, a local pub and a history that dates back to the Doomsday Book.

A little further away is the characterful town of Bude which offers cafes and independent shops as well as some of the staples of self-catering including a choice of four supermarkets. Having remained somewhat undiscovered by some of the more popular tourist traditions, Bude offers an atmospheric step back in time. A little off the beaten track, it is usually quieter than other popular resorts and is therefore full of repeat visitors who, once they’ve found it, return year after year for some quality, relaxing family time.

So, why not immerse yourself in calm, relaxing surroundings and restore your energy by taking a gentle swim, reading a book, strolling along the gorgeous beaches or even enjoying a Cornish cream tea (don’t forget to put the jam on first!)

Get active…

For the active among you, there are plenty of walks on the rugged North Cornwall coastline plus a huge range of sporting facilities in Bude, including golf, rowing boat hire, the Adventure Centre, surf schools, horse riding, angling and lots more.

Our dog-friendly cottages mean your four-legged friends can join you and many of the beaches are also open to dogs.

There are days out aplenty nearby and the location of the cottages means it is easy to explore both Devon and Cornwall.

If local exploring takes your fancy, the nearby village of Poughill is a picturesque winner of many Best Kept Village awards. It dates back to Doomsday times and The Battle of Stamford Hill was fought on its outskirts. The village hosts an annual Revel and Cuckoo Fair every August, with a mix of fun activities and lots of homemade produce to sample.

Or just relax

However, if you just want to escape the pace of everyday life, Blackberry, Bramblewood and Briar Patch cottages also offer peace and tranquility. All have private gardens and terraces from where you can relax and take in the beautiful views. The cottages also have private access to the recreation meadow and are equipped with fibre wifi.

There are many beautiful and historic gardens in Cornwall, which are the perfect place for a quiet stroll. Many are rooted in history and the landscape ranges from ancient woodland to open parkland.

Spoilt for choice

Visiting Cornwall is the perfect way to relax and revive. You’ll be spoilt for choice if you want to hit the tourist trail, with countless villages, harbours, and historic places to visit but, if you choose to unwind in the peaceful sanctuary of your cottage, you’ll not be disappointed by the views and proximity of nature. There are no shortage of National Trust properties in Cornwall so visitors can indulge their love of history. Why not try Hawker’s Hut, near Morwenstow, the Trust’s smallest property, built from washed up timbers, and situated on a circular walk which also takes in Cross Town and the Bush Inn.
