Making memories

Their rural location within a larger complex makes Blackberry, Bramblewood and Briar Patch Cottages ideal for a family holiday.

All our cottages are furnished with the safety of young children in mind and, as single-storey accommodation, they are easily accessible for young families and multi-generational groups too.

A short distance away is Bude, which offers a multitude of sporting activities for all ages and abilities. You can take advantage of surfing lessons for all abilities or go indoor bowling, go-karting and even soft play for days when the weather is a little too wild!

So much to do

The nearby beaches of Bude are beautiful, large and sandy. Many are Blue Flag beaches, and all provide instant entertainment for children, with bucket loads of sand for building castles or bringing an unexpected crunch to your picnic sandwiches!

Just 1.5 miles away, they provide the perfect opportunity for crabbing, rock-pooling, playing and swimming.

On-site facilities

With on-site facilities such as a play area, enclosed meadow and swimming pool, there’s also the opportunity for adults to relax while the children play. Of course, these facilities, along with our games room means wet-weather activities are easily solved.

Days out in Bude itself are also family-friendly, with a wide range of shops and restaurants available and attractions such as ice creams on the Lower Wharf, a dip in Bude’s seawater swimming pool or a visit to Bude Marshes Nature Reserve, home to many diverse plants and animals. There’s a family-friendly circular walk where you are sure to spot dragonflies, bees and marsh orchids.

What’s nearby?

There are many other family attractions just a short drive away, including:

Budding historians might want to visit nearby Stratton, where the atmospheric Tree Inn was used as the headquarters of the Roundhead Army and was also the home of John Payne, the Giant of Cornwall, whose huge portrait can be seen here.

Just For Kids?

Ok, big kids are allowed too! There are some wonderful children and family attractions nearby, including:

  • The Milky Way, near Clovelly with rides, play areas, live shows, sports, crafts and much more
  • The Big Sheep at Abbotsham offers a similar range of activities (but with sheep!)
  • Crealy Adventure Park near Wadebridge is probably Cornwall’s best known family theme park
  • Trethorne Leisure Park near Launceston is a great day out for all ages.

The area is also home to several excellent family cycling trails – the Tarka Trail and the Camel Trail, which runs from Padstow to Bodmin via Wadebridge,  being two of the better-known ones. Bike hire is available near to the start and end of these trails.

For the budding creatives, a couple of art shops in Bude offer painting classes where local artists share their tips. There are also craft sessions in the town.
