We’ve been coming to the cottages for our holidays for years, and something we do nearly every trip is make time for a round of golf. In this post we’ll share a few of our favourite courses.

Golf courses

Bude & North Cornwall golf course

Bude & North Cornwall golf course is hard to miss: its 18 holes are centrally located right between Flexbury and Bude, on the hill below Sainsbury’s and just inland from Crooklets beach. It’s a short 5 minute drive from Trevalgas Cottages.

It’s well maintained but definitely only a course for the serious golfer.

Ivy Leaf golf course

Spread across a hill between Bude and Kilkhampton, it’s 9 holes offer a more accessible challenge. Its fees are very reasonable, with cheap club hire, and there’s a driving range too. We probably play here the most out of all the courses nearby.

On clear days there’s a fantastic view from the hill, with nearly half of the north coast of Cornwall visible. It’s a short 4-minute drive from the cottages and highly recommended.

Bude Pitch & Putt

Bude Pitch & Putt is a lovely 9-hole course overlooking the sea, perfect for families or beginners. It’s a short walk from the centre of town, on the hill between Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches, and you’ll see it when driving up to Sainsbury’s.

We taught our children the basics of golf here a long time ago and we’ve been going back ever since. The holes are all short, up to 50m, and it has its own parking and café onsite.

Bude Pitch & Putt is operated by the town council and is normally open from May 1 to 30 September.

Budehaven Crazy Golf

At the Budehaven recreation ground, there’s a charming 9-hole crazy golf course. Each hole is themed, with recreations of the Bude lifeboat station and a sculpture of the nearby ‘Bude light’.

It’s right in the centre of town and is a short walk off Summerleaze beach and near The Castle Bude. There’s also a small putting green on the same site, behind the tennis courts.
